Thursday, April 12th @ 7:30 am Let me know if you can attend.
Listed below are the members of the Appropriations Committee. We need to get as many
calls/emails into them as possible before the committee meets on Thursday, April 12th
.
Reference the fact sheet on the bill and a health study. Call / email all of them. If you
could call yourself and/or coordinate others calling/emailing that would be great!!!
Targets are Butcher, Garcia and Massey.
This is going to be a tough, tough fight, as there is simply no money in the budget
this year.
We need to make this message come from a broad constituency of parents across the state

Tips when calling
Ask for the legislator or feel free to leave a message on their answering machine or with an
aide.
Include your name and reason for calling. Make it brief.
For example:
"Hi I'm _____ and I am calling to support HB 1293.
- Colorado needs to focus on kids health and the environmental impact of traffic air
pollution on our children’s health.
- Kid's health is worth the cost, because we will end up paying for it in the long term.
- Our kids are worth the expense of health analysis studies. This bill will protect them at
school and avoid detrimental lung damage that will cause future medical expenses to
care for them.
- 80% of the fiscal responsibility of this bill will be paid for with federal funds.
- California has a similar law in effect. Colorado needs to protect kids too.
- Thanks you for your support"
----------------------------
The American Cancer Society, Environment Colorado, Colorado PTA, and Mitchell PTA are
all supporting this issue and have testified on behalf of the bill. We want to ensure that kids
at Mitchell Elementary and other Colorado schools (Swansea, Carlson, Elk Creek,
Silverthorne) won't be affected by air pollution from proposed road expansions.
